Password Scribe creates a key for each website you visit.  The application stores only the key for each website.  It does not store your keystrokes or passwords.  Rather, you write down the encoded passwords with peace of mind, confident that only you can decode them.

With Password Scribe, you’ll never forget another password!

Protect yourself against Identity Theft

  1. -Strong passwords are an important first line of defense against identity thieves.  The following are suggestions for creating stronger passwords.

    1. -Use more characters.  When possible, use 12 or more characters.1

    2. -Use lower- and upper-case letters, numbers, and symbols.

    3. -Avoid dictionary words and use random passwords when possible.

    4. -Don’t use the same password for multiple accounts.

  2. -Keep your computer up to date with the latest operating system, web browsers, and anti-virus protection.

  3. -Identify that a website is secure before entering your personal information.  Look for https:// or shttp:// at the beginning of the address.  Most browsers will also display a padlock for secure websites.

  4. -Check with the Better Business Bureau before buying from a company for the first time.

  5. -Never click on a link inside an email to visit a website. 2  Type the address into your browser or into a search engine (google, yahoo, etc.) to verify the link.

  6. -Read privacy policies to learn if your information will be shared or sold to third parties.

  7. -Purchase a cross-cut shredder for your confidential documents.

  8. -Purchase a fire-proof safe.  Keep a copy of your wallet’s contents in it.  In the event that your wallet is stolen, you’ll be able to cancel your credit, debit, and atm cards.

  9. -Use a credit card instead of a debit card.  A credit card limits your liability.

  10. -Check your credit report on an annual basis.  Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion each offer a free credit report every 12 months in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).  Visit https://www.annualcreditreport.com for more information.
